From Nights People

Moustache is the much-needed feature on the face of one of India’s most vibrant and chaotic cities. Created by backpackers for backpackers, Moustache is a way to experience Delhi - its food, culture, history, and lifestyle - while escaping its insanity when you need a good nights sleep, a conversation with fellow travellers on the terrace, or some peace and quiet to read a book in the garden at the end of the day.

Tucked away from the main street, the hostel has a 'green room' for when you’ve had a tough day around town, a terrace to chill on, a kitchen to cook your meals, a garden to sip on your evening coffee while watching the city wind down, and a common room to hang out with other backpackers.

There is WiFi, lockers, and all the basic comforts you would expect from any international hostel. We made sure, however, that we added an Indian touch to everything – and no, that does not mean that none of these things work.

1/ Reliable taxi/tuk-tuk services from the airport and train station:

a/ From the airport: Meru Cabs is a private taxi service and is highly reliable albeit a little more expensive (Rs.100 more than other options). If you choose them, your trip will be scam and hassle-free. If you want cheaper, look for the taxi service run by the Delhi Police. At the International Terminal this is right before the last exit and at the Domestic Terminal this is on the right after you exit. It has the Delhi Police logo and says prepaid service. Don’t listen to anyone else who offers you rides. Expect to pay Rs.400-450 for the prepaid service and around Rs.600 for Meru Cabs.

b/ From the train station: go with the prepaid taxi or tuk-tuk service of the Delhi Police near the exit. Don’t listen to touts outside the counter. Make sure you get a prepaid service only. Expect to pay Rs.300-400 for taxi and Rs.150 for a tuk-tuk

2/ Directions to the hostel (for you and your taxi/tuk-tuk driver)

a/ You can save our location on Google maps by following this link:

b/ The hostel is on a main street opposite a very famous market (GK 1 M-block market) and its moustache signboard is hard to miss

c/ From the airport : take the Outer Ring Road and after the Savitri flyover and before the Nehru Place flyover make a left towards Pamposh Enclave. At the end of that road (at a traffic signal), take left and keep going straight for 700m. S-block will be on your left. Moustache hostel is ON that road around 1km after the turn.

d/ From the New or Old Delhi railway stations: take Lala Lajpat Rai Road towards Moolchand. At the Moolchand flyover take left towards Kailash Colony and the first right towards GK1. Go straight and make a left after Madhuban Hotel. Moustache Hostel is located on that road on your right after Mad Over Donuts and JHT hotels.

e/ Using the Metro/Subway/Tube: closest metro station is Kailash Colony. Get off here and take a cycle rickshaw or tuk-tuk, which will cost Rs.30-40. Ask to be taken to the M-block market main road where S-block is. The hostel is near JHT hotel.

f/ Coming from other parts of the city: come towards Kailash Colony metro station. Once in the neighbourhood, ask for M-block market main road. The hotel is on this road near JHT hotel and mad over donuts
